Siena defeats Niagara 72-60
OD Anosike tallied a double-double, scoring 27 points and pulling down 14 rebounds, to lead Siena in a 72-60 win over Niagara Sunday for the Saints' eighth straight win versus the Purple Eagles at home.
Kyle Downey added 18 points, Evan Hymes 13 and Rob Poole 11 for Siena (7-8, 2-3 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference), which has won two straight conference games.
The Purple Eagles looked strong early, though, leading for nearly the entire first half and were up 21-16 with 6:49 before the break.
But Poole and Downey connected on back-to-back 3-pointers for the Saints, fueling a 15-7 run for a three-point lead going into the locker room.
Niagara fought back in the second half, taking a 42-41 lead midway through, but the quartet of Siena high-scorers sparked a 25-9 spree from that juncture to run away with the win.
Antoine Mason led Niagara (6-11, 1-4) with 15 points.
