SFA secures 4th league title, beats Houston Baptist 82-54

NACOGDOCHES, Texas (AP) Clide Geffrard had a career-high 23 points and Trey Pinkney dished out a career-high 10 assists as Stephen F. Austin dominated Houston Baptist 82-54 on Saturday night to secure its fourth-straight Southland Conference regular season title.

No Southland Conference team has ever won four straight regular season championships. The win also solidifies SFA's No. 1 seed in the conference tourney set to start March 9 in Katy, Texas.

Demetrious Floyd nailed four from long range for 16 points, and T.J. Holyfield and Thomas Walkup added 11 apiece for the Lumberjacks (22-5, 15-0) who last lost when Alabama Birmingham beat them 76-66 on Dec. 29.

SFA sprinted to a 40-27 halftime advantage and pushed that to a 47-30 lead with 15:58 left.

Anthony Odunsi had 15 points to lead Houston Baptist (16-13, 10-6) which currently holds the No. 4 tournament seed with two games remaining.
