Southeast Missouri State got its first victory of the year in a big way Saturday, dominating Hannibal-LaGrange 101-52.
The Redhawks (1-10) got 21 points from Marland Smith and 19 points and 15 rebounds from Nate Schulte while snapping an 18-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Fernando Fernandez had 12 points for Hannibal-LaGrange, an NAIA school that came in with a 4-8 record and counted this game as an exhibition.
Southeast Missouri stormed out to a 16-2 lead during a first half in which it shot 63 percent from the field and hit 8 of 11 3-pointers. The Redhawks were ahead 53-23 at the break and increased the lead to as much as 54 points in the second half. They hit 100 points on Smith's 3-pointer with 3:07 remaining.
Anthony Allison added 15 points for Southeast Missouri, while Leon Powell had 12 and Rae-Vonn Banks 11.
