SE Louisiana starts fast, beats Houston Baptist 87-67

HAMMOND, La. (AP) Joshua Filmore and Onochie Ochie had 17 points apiece to lead Southeastern Louisiana to a dominating 87-67 win over Houston Baptist on Saturday night.

Filmore hit 5 of 8 from beyond the arc and Ochie made 8 of 9 field goal attempts. Zay Jackson had 15 points and DeVonte Upson added 14 for Southeastern Louisiana (4-11, 1-1 Southland Conference). Filmore and Jackson each had seven assists.

The Lions came out hot, shooting 58.1 percent to take a 45-29 lead at the break. They finished with 34 of 62 from the floor (54.8 percent) and made 10 of 20 from beyond the arc. Houston Baptist closed to 57-45 midway in the second half but the Lions quickly answered and coasted to the win.

Anthony Odunsi had 18 points, Reveal Chukwujekwu added 12 and Josh Ibarra had 10 for Houston Baptist (6-7, 1-2).
