Deshawn Patterson had 19 points and five steals, including a critical takeaway in overtime to lead Southeastern Louisiana over Southern University 65-61 Monday night.

Tied at 59 after regulation, Jameel Grace made two free throws in the opening 1:15 of overtime to put Southern on top. The Lions (5-3) then scored the game's final six points, starting with Patterson's jumper with 2:12 remaining after stealing the ball from Derick Beltran.

Southern (3-7) went 0-for-3 and turned the ball over once more as Southeastern Louisiana went 4 of 6 from the free-throw line the rest of the way.

Roosevelt Johnson added 10 points and 16 rebounds for the Lions. Onochie Ochie added 11 points.

After Daron Populist's two free throws put Southeastern Louisiana ahead 59-58, Grace made the first of his two free throws to send it into overtime with 1 second left.

Beltran finished with 20 points for the Jaguars.
