Schwieger scores 27, Princeton opens Ivy play 78-64

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Ryan Schwieger scored a career-high 27 points as Princeton defeated Penn 78-64 to open Ivy league play at the Palestra on Saturday night.

Jaelin Llewellyn added 18 points and a career-high 14 rebounds for Princeton (5-8, 1-0). Richmond Aririguzoh added 15 points and 14 rebounds. The Tigers have won four of their last five games.

Jordan Dingle scored 21 points to lead the Quakers (7-5, 0-1). Devon Goodman added 16 points and seven assists. AJ Brodeur, who has started in all 104 games played, chipped in 12 points with eight rebounds, scoring in double digits for 36 straight games against Division I foes.

With 1,549 career points at Penn, Brodeur is four shy of moving past Ron Haigler (1973-75) into sixth place on the scoring list.

The two teams, who have played each other since 1903, meet again Friday at Princeton's Jadewin Gymnasium.
