SC State beats NAIA St. Andrews 93-76

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) James ''JJ'' Richardson scored 20, Greg Mortimer added 19 and Eric Eaves 18 to help South Carolina State beat St. Andrews 93-76 on Monday night.

Tashombe Riley and Edward Stephens added 10 points each for SC State (1-1), which led by no less than 12 in the second half. The Bulldogs played back-and-forth for the first 11 minutes but closed the first half outscoring St. Andrews 25-8 to lead 46-31 at the break.

Conner Zinaich made 14 of 18 shots and finished with 29 points and 16 rebounds to lead St. Andrews. Titus Gary added 22 points and Andrew Rodriguez scored 10.

The Knights had a 38-37 edge in rebounding but committed 20 turnovers compared to the Bulldogs' 10.

The game counted as an exhibition for the Knights, who are an NAIA member.
