Santa Clara pulls away from San Diego, 68-62

SAN DIEGO (AP) Brandon Clark scored 22 points, including 5 of 6 free throw attempts in the final minute, to lead Santa Clara to a 68-62 win at San Diego Saturday night.

Clark broke a 52-52 tie by drilling a 3-pointer with under seven minutes to play to give the Broncos the lead for good in a back-and-forth contest. Jared Brownridge followed with a 3 about a minute later and Nate Kratch delivered a 3 with under three minutes left.

Clark was 7 of 15 from the field and 4 of 6 from long range in leading Santa Clara (11-15, 4-9 West Coast Conference), with Brownridge adding 17.

San Diego (13-13, 4-9) got 22 points from Duda Sanadze, with Johnne Dee adding another 18 and Christopher Anderson 11.

The Toreros shot 37.7 percent from the field (20 of 53) and 18 of 29 (62.1 percent) from the free throw line.
