San Francisco beats Alcorn State 78-65

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) Charles Minlend scored 14 points with four rebounds to lead four players in double figures as San Francisco beat Alcorn State 78-65 on Wednesday night.

Minlend was 5 of 8 from the field including three from distance for the Dons (5-1). Ronnie Boyce added 13 points and four rebounds, Chase Foster had 12 points and Mladen Djordjevic had 10. Matt McCarthy led the team with 11 rebounds in addition to his nine points.

San Francisco opened the second half with a 7-0 surge to take a 51-37 lead. Alcorn State closed it to eight points, 60-52, with 7:59 to play but Nate Renfro dunked and Boyce scored back-to-back layups in the final 3:18 help seal the win.

A Minlend 3-pointer and a Jordan Ratinho layup helped the Dons to a 21-11 advantage early and they led 44-37 at the break.

Reginal Johnson scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Braves (2-4).
