Tyler Hood and Drew Windler combined for 10 of Samford's season-high 16 3-pointers as the Bulldogs held off Elon 86-80 on Thursday night.

Hood scored a career-high 25 points, hitting 4 of 7 from long range, while Windler had 21 points, making 6 of 9 3-pointers, to give the Bulldogs their second straight win after a six-game skid.

Samford (5-12, 2-4 Southern Conference) led by 10 in the first half and 45-37 at the break.

The Phoenix (8-9, 3-3) opened the second half with a 13-3 run, capped by a Ryley Beaumont dunk, to lead 50-48, but the Bulldogs regained the advantage with a 7-0 spurt.

After Elon got within two with 5:38 left, a 10-0 Samford run, including 3s by Windler and Raijon Kelly, pushed the lead back to 10.

Drew Spradlin's 19 points led Elon, which shot 50 percent (29 of 58) and made 11 of 27 3-pointers.
