Sam Houston State dominates Lamar 84-70

HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) Dakarai Henderson scored 13 points, making all three 3-point attempts, to lead Sam Houston State to an 84-70 victory over Lamar Saturday.

Sam Houston has won eight of its last nine games and remains alone in second place in Southland Conference play behind Stephen F. Austin. Sam Houston will host SFA Saturday. SFA won the first meeting 73-56.

Terrance Motley had 11 points and 12 rebounds for Sam Houston (17-6, 9-2). Michael Holyfield added 11 points and pulled down eight rebounds.

A bus breakdown caused Lamar to arrive 24 minutes late, and that slow start transferred over to the court. Sam Houston held a commanding 48-27 advantage at the half as the Bearkats started fast, making 54.8 percent of their field goal attempts in the first half, while limiting Lamar to 8 of 22 attempts.

Rhon Mitchell had 18 points for Lamar (5-18, 2-9).
