Saint Peter's rallies to beat Manhattan 70-67 behind Portley

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) Antwon Portley scored 15 points and made a career-high five assists and Saint Peter's rallied with a balanced attack to beat Manhattan 70-67 on Wednesday night for their fourth straight win.

Elisha Boone scored 13 points, Quadir Welton and Trevis Wyche added 12 apiece and Chazz Patterson had 11 with four assists for the Peacocks (12-13, 10-6 Mid-American Athletic Conference).

Trailing 35-34 at halftime, Saint Peter's took a 64-59 lead on Peterson's back-to-back 3-pointers and layup.

Shane Richards hit a layup and Manhattan trailed by three with 1:04 left.

Thomas Capuano's three-point play pulled the Jaspers within 69-67 with 9 seconds left before Portley split a pair of free throws with 7 seconds left. The Jaspers sent Zane Waterman to the foul line and he made both with 4 seconds to go, but Manhattan failed to get another look.

Waterman scored 18 and Richards added 16 for Manhattan (11-14, 8-8).
