Omar Samhan scored 22 points and pulled down 17 rebounds to lead Saint Mary's past Utah State 68-63 Saturday night. Clint Steindl added 11 for the Gaels (6-1), including a 3-point shot with 36 seconds to play and the score tied at 63. Ben Allen dropped in 14 points for Saint Mary's, including four 3-pointers. The Gaels shot 7 of 12 from 3-point range in the second half. USU was led by Pooh Williams with 15 points. Jared Quayle added 13 and Tai Wesley 12 for the Aggies (4-3). The loss broke a 37-game home winning streak for USU. The Aggies took their first lead of the second half, 52-51 with 8:49 to play, when Tyler Newbold made a short jump shot, which was then followed by a 3-pointer from Quayle. After the Aggies tied the game with 1:06 to play, Saint Mary's milked the clock and worked a kick-out play to Steindl, who made the critical shot from the corner of the court.
