Saint Louis has conditionally readmitted Willie Reed, the junior center who was suspended just before the start of fall practices.

The school said in a release Friday night that the 6-foot-9 Reed was eligible to enroll in classes for the spring semester, but that among other conditions for his readmission Reed remains suspended from the team until further notice. The decision to readmit Reed followed a meeting with university administrators this week.

Point guard Kwamain Mitchell, also was suspended this fall, was readmitted without conditions Thursday and is eligible to play for the Billikens.

In Reed's case, the school said it considered academic performance issues and several previous incidents of misconduct. Among the conditions the school set for Reed is proof he can be a successful student.

Mitchell and Reed were the top two returning players from a team that was expected to contend for the Atlantic 10 title. Saint Louis is 5-9 and has lost four in a row.
