Ray Jones scored 16 points and Kyle Davis had a double-double to lead Southern Utah to a 69-48 victory over Western Illinois on Thursday night.

Davis had 12 points and a game-best 14 rebounds for the Thunderbirds (6-12, 3-5 Summit League), who won their second straight game. The double-double was Davis' third, and the 14 rebounds tied his career high.

The Leathernecks (7-11, 2-6) were led by Matt Lander's 14 points and Brandon Smith's 12.

Southern Utah shot just 41.1 percent (23 of 56), but that was much better than Western Illinois' 26.7 percent (12 of 45). The Thunderbirds also outrebounded the Leathernecks 42-33 and had a 35-12 edge on points in the paint.

Southern Utah led 35-25 at halftime and by double figures the rest of the way.

Western Illinois, which has lost four of its last five, fell to 1-8 on the road.
