S.C.-Upstate 93, N.C.-Asheville 91

Carter Cook hit two free throws with 6.9 seconds left in double overtime to give South Carolina-Upstate its first victory of the season, 93-91 over North Carolina-Asheville on Monday night.

The Spartans (1-6) led 37-27 at halftime in the first game inside the newly renovated Hodge Center.

The Bulldogs (2-4) opened the second half on a 10-1 run, but S.C.-Upstate countered with its own 10-1 spurt.

UNC Asheville eventually built a 67-61 lead, but the Spartans tied it on Tony Dukes' 3-pointer to force overtime.

S.C. Upstate overcame a five-point deficit in the first OT to lead 84-81, then J.P. Primm's 3 at the buzzer forced the second overtime.

Cook made four free throws in the final minute. He and Babatunde Olumuyiwa both finished with 16 points.

Primm had 26 points to lead the Bulldogs, Matt Dickey had 20 and D.J. Cunningham added 12 points and 18 rebounds.
