Robert Morris uses late first-half run, beats CCSU 59-45

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) Kavon Stewart and Elijah Minnie scored 15 points apiece to lead Robert Morris to a 59-45 victory over Central Connecticut State on Thursday night.

Stewart shot 6 of 10 from the floor. Minnie finished on 7-of-9 shooting from the field and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds for the Colonials (5-15, 3-4 Northeast Conference), who have won three of their last five games since snapping a four-game skid.

JJ Cratit scored nine points to lead Central Connecticut State (1-17, 0-7).

Cratit made consecutive 3s and Khalen Cumberlander added a layup to give the Blue Devils their last lead, 18-14 midway through the first half. Robert Morris answered with an 11-0 run to close the first half and led 25-18. Stewart had four points and Matty McConnell hit a 3-pointer during the surge.

The Colonials opened the second half with an 11-2 spurt and had a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
