Robert Morris defeats cold-shooting Mount Saint Mary's 70-45

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (AP) Lucky Jones scored 17 points, Marcquise Reed and Rodney Pryor added 12 each and a balanced Robert Morris defeated cold-shooting Mount Saint Mary's 70-45 on Saturday in the Northeast Conference opener for both teams.

Jones scored nine points on 9 of 10 foul shooting down the stretch, grabbed eight rebounds and made two steals for Robert Morris (5-8, 1-0).

The Mountaineers (4-8, 0-1) made only five baskets in the first half. They trailed by 20 at halftime, by as many as 28 late in the game and finished 13 of 52 from the field (25 percent). Gregory Graves and Andrew Smeathers each scored 14 for Mount Saint Mary's.

The Colonials owned a 35-31 rebounding edge - including 31 defensive boards. The Mountaineers missed their first eight shots and had three turnovers before Graves scored and was fouled, converting the three-point play to get on the board five minutes in.
