Rider holds onto MAAC lead, rallies past Marist, 89-79 (Feb 10, 2018)

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) Dimencio Vaughn scored 28 points and grabbed a dozen rebounds as Rider staged an improbable comeback, roaring back from 21 points down in the final 10 minutes to post an 89-79 win over Marist Saturday to maintain a share of first place in the Metro Atlantic standings.

The Broncs held Marist without a field goal for more than seven minutes to end the game.

Rider trailed by as many as 21 points, 65-44, with 10:35 left after Brian Parker hit two free throws. But the Red Foxes did not score a field goal after Tobias Sjoberg's layup with 7:17 to play for a 73-58 lead. Frederick Scott dunked and Vaughn hit a jumper to start a comeback that saw the Broncs take the lead on Vaughn's three-point play, 80-78 with 2:04 left.

Rider (19-7, 12-2) held Marist (5-21, 3-11) scoreless for three-and-a-half minutes, with Connor McClenaghan's free throw with :19 left ending the drought while the Broncs closed with a 16-1 run.

Stevie Jordan added 19 points for Rider.

Ryan Funk had 18 points to lead Marist and Sjoberg finished with 13 points and 13 rebounds.
