Richmond pulls away from Fordham, 70-55, to advance in A-10

NEW YORK (AP) T.J. Cline and ShawnDre' Jones each scored 17 points as Richmond blew almost all of a 16-point halftime lead before pulling away from Fordham for a 70-55 victory in the second round of the Atlantic 10 tournament Thursday.

The ninth-seeded Spiders (16-15) will face top seed Dayton on Friday at Barclays Center.

Ryan Rhoomes had 18 points and 14 rebounds for No. 8 Fordham (17-13), which had won four straight to end the regular season.

Richmond came in slumping, having lost five of six, but built a 38-22 halftime lead on 64 percent shooting.

Fordham cut the lead to three in the first nine minutes of the second half behind Rhoomes' strong play inside. The 6-foot-8 senior then cut it to 46-45 on a reverse layup with 8:40 left.

Richmond regained control with a 10-0 run, starting with Cline putting back his own miss.

Joseph Chartouny led Fordham with 19 points.
