Report: Fred VanVleet will miss this week with hamstring injury
Wichita State is one of the headliners in the Adovcare Invitational, a bracket that includes Xavier, Dayton, Iowa and Notre Dame. Howver, the Shockers will enter the event's quarterfinals on Thursday against USC without starting point guard Fred VanVleet.
Wichita State head coach Gregg Marshall told Jeff Goodman of ESPN that he does not expect VanVleet to play this week because of a hamstring injury.
"I'd be surprised if he plays," Marshall told ESPN. "The last thing the doctors told me was probably the Saint Louis game (Dec. 5) at best."
VanVleet has been limited this season. He missed the Shockers' 76-54 win over Emporia State on Friday, and only played three minutes in the team's season opener against Charleston Southern due to an ankle injury.
In 112 appearances for the Shockers, VanVleet has averaged 9.6 points, 3.3 reboudns, 4.2 assists per game.
