March 12, 2012

A boys basketball coach at a Massachusetts grade school turned himself in to police Monday after allegedly biting off part of another coach's ear after losing a game.

Timothy Lee Forbes, 34, fled the scene after the Friday incident at Holy Name School in Springfield, Mass., WFSB-TV reported.

When Forbes' team lost the championship game, police said, he attacked the winning team's coach and bit off part of his ear.

The 34-year-old winning coach was taken to a nearby hospital to have the ear reattached.

Forbes was arrested Monday and charged with assault and battery and mayhem. He was scheduled to be arraigned later Monday.

Police said Forbes was not affiliated with Holy Name School, according to WFSB.
