Quinnipiac basketball coach Tom Moore has agreed to a contract extension designed to keep him at the school through the 2016-17 season.

The university announced the deal on Wednesday, but did not release the terms.

Moore, who spent 13 years as an assistant at Connecticut under Jim Calhoun, became Quinnipiac's coach in 2007.

He has compiled a 93-65 record over five years and has led the Bobcats to three consecutive winning seasons, including an 18-14 mark in 2011-12.

He also has been mentioned as one of several possible candidates to eventually succeed the 70-year-old Calhoun at UConn.
