James Johnson scored 20 points to lead four players in double figures and Quinnipiac defeated Maine 75-67 on Monday night.

Johnson also had seven rebounds, five assists and two steals.

Dave Johnson scored 14 points, Deontay Twyman had 13 and Justin Rutty tallied 12 points and eight rebounds for the Bobcats (4-1).

Quinnipiac trailed 39-34 at halftime before outscoring the Black Bears 9-2 over the first four minutes of the second half. James had five points during the run, including a 3-pointer from well beyond the arc to put the Bobcats up 44-41 with 16:11 left.

Maine (2-3) later regained the lead, going up 50-46, but Dave Johnson scored five straight for Quinnipiac to pull ahead for good 53-52 with 7:48 to go.

Raheem Singleton scored 18 points for the Black Bears. Terrance Mitchell, who returned after missing the season's first four games scored 16 for Maine.
