Providence plays winner of Boise State-Dayton in First Four

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) Sixth-seeded Providence has the advantage of facing a First Four team in its opening game of the NCAA Tournament.

The Friars (22-11) will face the winner of the Boise State-Dayton game on Friday in Columbus, Ohio. Dayton will be favored in its First Four game on Wednesday night on the Flyers' home court, where they went 16-0 this season and have won 21 in a row overall.

Providence is one of six Big East teams that reached the NCAA Tournament, losing to champion Villanova 63-61 during the semifinals of the conference tournament. The Friars are trying for their first win in the NCAA Tournament since 1997, when they reached the Elite Eight. They're 14-17 all-time in the NCAA Tournament.
