Prosecutor delays charging decision against Minnesota player

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 11:13 p.m. ET

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) A prosecutor has delayed a decision on whether to charge a Minnesota basketball player arrested on suspicion of criminal sexual conduct last weekend.

The Hennepin County Attorney's office on Tuesday deferred a decision in the case of center Reggie Lynch, who was released from jail when a 36-hour hold expired at noon. The decision sends the case back to investigators for additional work. There is no deadline on when that work has to be completed.

Minnesota earlier suspended the 21-year-old Lynch indefinitely pending an investigation.

The 6-foot-9 player from suburban Edina didn't play last season as he sat out following his transfer from Illinois State. It was not clear whether he has an attorney and the school didn't immediately return a message left seeking comment.
