Prairie View holds on to beat Alabama State 67-65

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) John Brisco, who finished with 20 points, made two late free throws to secure Prairie View A&M's 67-65 victory over Alabama State on Monday night.

Brisco nailed 4 of 6 from beyond the arc and was 4 of 4 from the line. Tre Hagood had 13 points and Karim York added 12 with nine rebounds for Prairie View A&M (13-16, 11-5 Southwestern Athletic Conference), which has won seven straight.

Alabama State was up 30-29 at the break but Hagood nailed a jumper to give Prairie View a 38-36 lead with 14:59 left. The Panthers stretched that to 50-41 midway through the second period.

Steve Rogers Jr. drilled a 3 to cut Alabama State's deficit to 61-59 with 2:55 left. Brisco answered with a jumper and closed the game out with two free throws as the Panthers held on for the win.

Rogers led Alabama State (16-9, 12-4) with 26.
