Powell, La Salle beat Delaware 74-68

PHILADELPHIA (AP) Pookie Powell had 14 points, seven rebounds and six assists and La Salle held on for a 74-68 win over Delaware on Tuesday night.

The Explorers (1-1) had a 68-64 lead and Powell made all four of his free throws in the final 37 seconds. B.J. Johnson added two more to secure the win.

The Blue Hens (2-1) scored 10 straight points to get within 59-58 on Ryan Daly's jumper with 5 minutes left. But La Salle's Demetrius Henry stopped the run with back-to-back baskets and, after a Daly 3-pointer, Powell hit a 3 and Henry capped the 9-3 run with a dunk to make it 68-61 at 2:13.

Jordan Price had 15 points and Henry scored 11 for La Salle.

Daly and Cazmon Hayes had 19 points each and Anthony Mosley scored 17 for Delaware.
