PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Derek Brown scored eight of his 12 points in the final nine minutes on Saturday night and Portland State rallied to beat UC Riverside 71-64.
Dikymbe Martin's layup with 8:24 left gave UC Riverside a 58-54 lead. The Highlanders then missed their next 11 shots from the field while Portland State took the lead with a 16-5 run including 12 straight points. Jordan Gilliam's 3-pointer with 10 seconds left broke the Highlanders' cold streak from the field but it was too late with a six-point deficit.
Gilliam and Dragan Elkaz had 11 points each for UC Riverside (0-2), which had its largest lead at 31-26 late in the first half.
