Pollard leads Houston over South Florida 72-55

HOUSTON (AP) Devonta Pollard had 18 points, 10 rebounds and tied a career-mark with five steals to help Houston roll to a 72-55 victory over South Florida on Sunday, snapping its six-game losing streak.

Pollard was 4 of 13 from the field and made 10 of 13 free throws. LeRon Barnes scored 15 and Wes VanBeck added 12, all from long range. Jherrod Stiggers chipped in 11 points and tied a career-high with seven assists for Houston (10-18, 2-14 American Athletic Conference).

The Cougars led 33-29 at the break, and opened the second half on a 15-2 run to stretch its lead to 48-31 with 13:59 to play. Houston had a 23-point lead midway through the second and cruised from there.

Troy Holston Jr. scored 22 points and Nehemias Morillo 12 to lead South Florida (8-21, 2-14). The Bulls were outrebounded 37-25 and attempted 10 fewer free throws.
