Pepperdine holds off Loyola Marymount, 72-69

LOS ANGELES (AP) Stacy Davis had 27 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as Pepperdine escaped Loyola Marymount, 72-69 Thursday night to complete a season sweep.

Davis helped Pepperdine build a 12-point lead with under 7 minutes left, hitting 10 of his first 12 shots and all 3 3-point attempts and finished shooting 10 for 15 from the field and 4 of 5 from the free throw line. It was Davis' sixth double-double of the season, and Pepperdine (15-13, 8-8 West Coast) now is 6-0 when he does.

Loyola Marymount (11-17, 3-13) rallied, cutting its deficit to just two points, 66-64 on a 3-pointer by Gabe Levins with 1:44 left, and again at 69-67 with 1:05 left.

Malcolm Brooks had five points in the final 1:25 for Pepperdine and finished with 15 points.

Anthony Ireland and C.J. Blackwell both missed 3-point attempts in the final second for LMU. Ireland finished with 26 points.
