Penn 78, Rider 72
Miles Cartwright scored 27 points, including a layup to send the game into overtime and seven of his total in the extra frame, to send Pennsylvania to a 78-72 victory over Rider on Thursday night.
Rider led 59-55 with 2:58 left in regulation and neither team scored again until Zack Rosen's layup pulled Penn (2-1) within two points more than a minute later.
Cartwright put in a layup with 37 seconds left to knot the game at 59-all, and Jonathon Thompson missed a game-winning jumper attempt for Rider (0-4) with two seconds left to send it into overtime.
In the extra frame, Cartwright scored Penn's first five points and Tyler Bernardini's jumper less than two minutes in put the Quakers up 66-64. They wouldn't trail again, outscoring the Broncs 19-13 in overtime to seal it.
Daniel Stewart led Rider with 26 points.
