Old Dominion 75, James Madison 59
Frank Hassell had 21 points and 10 rebounds as Old Dominion stayed hot with a 75-59 victory over James Madison on Thursday night.
It was the ninth win in 10 games for the Monarchs (23-6, 13-4 Colonial Athletic Association), who also got 19 points from Kent Bazemore. Old Dominion beat James Madison for the sixth consecutive meeting and pulled back into a second-place tie with Hofstra in the conference.
James Madison (20-10, 9-8) led by as many as eight in the first half, but the Dukes couldn't hold it. They took a 17-9 lead with 11:09 left in the first half when Devon Moore hit a jumper. But the Monarchs answered with 13 straight points to claim a 22-17 lead and they would not trail again. Their lead reached 21 points in the second half.
Denzel Bowles led James Madison with 14 points on 7-of-8 shooting from the field. Moore added 10 points.
