Oklahoma State Basketball: Cowboys Handle UAPB 102-66
Oklahoma State improves to 8-2 after beating Arkansas-Pine Bluff 102-66 Wednesday night at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater.
Star sophomore point guard Jawun Evans was back in action for the Oklahoma State Cowboys Wednesday night after missing the previous game against Tulsa due to a bruised A/C joint in his left shoulder. Evans made his impact felt on the game, despite not stuffing the stat sheet the way he usually does.
Oklahoma State started slow and seemed to play down to their competition for the first eight or so minutes of the first half before finding their rhythm behind the hustle of Cameron McGriff.
The freshman forward’s energy off the bench got his Cowboys going in the first half and continued throughout the game. His athletic ability was on full display as he secured 3 offensive rebounds, one of which was an impressive play to save the ball from going out of bounds.
McGriff poured in 10 points, 8 of which came from the charity stripe. He wasn’t the only freshman who had an impact on the game as Brad Underwood’s first freshman class at Oklahoma State continues to play and play well. Freshman guards Lindy Waters III and Thomas Dziagwa scored 13 and 14, respectively. Jeffery Carroll lead all scorers with 18.
Brad Underwood’s team played relentless defense all night, even when the game became out of reach, forcing the Golden Lions to turn the ball over 31 times.
Oklahoma State will be back in action Saturday, taking on the Wichita State Shockers at Intrust Bank Arena in Wichita, Kansas.
