Notre Dame Basketball: Fighting Irish vs North Carolina Tar Heels Live Stream

Notre Dame basketball takes on the ACC’s top team, North Carolina, in hopes of snapping their three-game losing streak. Here’s how to watch Notre Dame vs UNC online.

The Fighting Irish look to get back on track as they take on what could be their biggest test of the season. Now 6-4 in the ACC, Notre Dame is in dire need of a win and against North Carolina, it could be a step in the right direction.

This game isn’t going to be easy, though. UNC is one of the most talented teams in the country. If they want to beat the Tar Heels, the Irish are going to need to find answers for players like Justin Jackson, Isiah Hicks and Kennedy Meeks.

They have the talent to match V.J. Beachem up with Jackson and Bonzie Colson up with Hicks. But Meeks is going to cause Notre Dame trouble. The senior forward has been an animal during his time at North Carolina, and the Irish have struggled in the frontcourt all season. Martinas Geben and Matt Ryan haven’t proven they can stop someone of Meek’s caliber and without slowing him, the Irish are going to find it nearly impossible to win.

This may be the game Notre Dame coach, Mike Brey, gives freshman, John Mooney, a shot. Mooney has only played in 10 games this season, mostly during garbage time. But with the struggles of Geben and Ryan down low, Mooney isn’t a bad option for the Irish’s post.

If Notre Dame can find a way to slow North Carolina’s bigmen, Matt Farrell and Steve Vasturia could handle the backcourt. They may not be able to produce crazy good numbers, but they should be able to do enough to give the Irish an advantage.

From there, the game falls into the hands of the underdogs. One of the three forwards for Notre Dame needs to step up. If they do, the Irish will come away with a win. But if they don’t, the team is going to find it difficult to pull this upset off.
