Shamir Davis scored 20 points to lead Northwestern State to an 89-83 victory over Louisiana Tech on Tuesday night.

Gary Roberson had 14 points, DeQuan Hicks 13, and Jalan West and Brison White 13 apiece for the Demons (4-3). Hicks pulled down 10 rebounds, and James Hulbin grabbed 12 and scored seven points.

Kenneth Smith and Raheem Appleby scored 17 points each for Louisiana Tech, Alex Hamilton had 16, and Michale Kyser pulled down 17 rebounds, including 10 on the offensive end, to go with seven points for the Bulldogs (7-2), who had won seven in a row after a season-opening 71-59 loss Texas A&M.

Appleby hit a jumper to give the Bulldogs a 67-64 lead with 7:46 left, but Northwestern State's 10-3 run put them ahead for good.

The Demons outshot the Bulldogs 53 percent (34 of 62) to 34.5 percent (29 of 84) from the field.
