Northwestern 71, Ark.-Pine Bluff 45

John Shurna and Drew Crawford each scored 17 points as Northwestern remained undefeated with a 71-45 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Friday night.

Northwestern (3-0) raced to a 44-25 halftime lead with Shurna scoring all of his points, including 4 of 5 from 3-point range.

The Wildcats took control from the outset. After the Golden Lions (0-3) scored the game's first basket, Northwestern made its next five shots for an 11-2 lead.

From that point forward, Northwestern took advantage of free throw shooting, hitting 12 of 15 in the first half, while Arkansas-Pine Bluff was only 2 of 2.

Michael Thompson added 11 points and five assists for Northwestern. Wildcats freshman JerShon Cobb had eight rebounds.

Daniel Broughton and Dominic Moore led the Golden Lions with 12 apiece, and Gavin Montgomery scored 11.

This was the first meeting between the Wildcats and the Golden Lions of the Southwestern Athletic.
