Adam McCoy's 29 points for North Texas topped the scoring Thursday night as the Mean Green beat Sun Belt Conference rival Arkansas State 91-82. North Texas (17-11, 10-7 SBC) led 49-29 at the half after ASU (14-14, 5-12) failed to make any of its three 3-point shots. The Red Wolves' accuracy improved after intermission, to 7-10 from 3-point range and 57 percent overall, but that wasn't enough to get them back in the game. Dominique Johnson scored 14 points for North Texas and Josh White added 13. Donald Boone came off the bench to lead the Red Wolves with 16 points, while Shawn Morgan scored 15 and Larry Handy and Daniel Bryant added 10 each.
