North Texas 89, Grambling St. 78

Tristan Thompson scored 28 points to lead five North Texas players in double digits as part of an 89-78 win over Grambling State on Thursday night.

George Odufuwa helped out the Mean Green (6-1) with 14 points and 10 rebounds while Kedrick Hogans added 13 points, Josh White scored 12 and Dominique Johnson 10.

The Mean Green is off to its best start since 1977-78, when it began 7-1.

North Texas got off to a quick lead with a 10-2 run to start the game and were up by as many as 18 points late in the second half.

The Mean Green shot 55.4 percent from the field while the Tigers (1-6) shot 46.9 percent.

Justin Patton led Grambling State with 26 points and 10 rebounds. Donald Qualls added 15 points while Derron Hobbs and Rupert Rose each scored 10.
