Roger Franklin scored 16 points and had a career-high 15 rebounds to help North Texas defeat Louisiana-Monroe 68-55 on Saturday.

The Mean Green (11-8, 4-2 Sun Belt Conference) opened up with a 19-2 lead in the game's first 9 minutes thanks to their long-range shooting. Tony Mitchell and Brandon Walton made the game's opening 3-pointers, and went on to combine for all eight of North Texas's 3-pointers in the game.

Walton scored a career-high 18 points on 5 of 8 shooting from 3-point range, while Mitchell, who was 3 of 4 from behind the arc, finished with 15 points, nine rebounds and three blocks.

The Mean Green took a 37-18 lead at halftime, connecting on 42.4 percent from the field (14 of 33) and holding Louisiana-Monroe to just 6-of-27 shooting in the period.

Charles Winborne led the Warhawks (2-17, 1-5) with 15 points, and Steven McClellan had 13 rebounds.
