North Florida survives USC-Upstate 81-78, moves into 1st

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) Dallas Moore had 14 points and nine assists and hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with 30 seconds left in North Florida's 81-78 win over South Carolina-Upstate on Saturday night.

Demarcus Daniels led the Ospreys (20-10, 9-4 Atlantic Sun) with 23 points. Beau Beech added 18 and Chris Davenport 13 as North Florida moved alone into first place with a one-game lead in the conference standings.

Beech grabbed the rebound after Michael Buchanan missed both from the foul line for USC-Upstate (9-21, 3-10) with 12 seconds left. Beech split a pair of free throws and the Spartans missed a pair of 3-point attempts in the final seconds.

Buchanan finished with 20 points and 11 rebounds.

Neither team held a double-digit lead. The Spartans had the largest lead at 71-62 with 8:45 left. The Ospreys closed the gap with an 8-2 run and that set up a back-and-forth finish with five lead changes in the final 1:44.
