North Dakota 72, Mayville State 54

Patrick Mitchell had 14 points and nine rebounds as North Dakota cruised past Mayville State 72-54 on Wednesday night.

Aaron Anderson and Troy Huff scored 13 points each and Brandon Brekke added 10 for the Fighting Sioux (6-8), who snapped a three-game losing streak.

Gus Kueber, Matt Bauduin and Cody Coauette scored 14 points apiece to pace the Comets (7-7), an NAIA school.

North Dakota held a 16-13 lead before putting together a 12-2 run that provided a 28-15 edge with 7:00 left in the first half, closing the spurt on a 3-pointer by Mitchell.

Mayville State closed within 40-35 with 13:16 to go on three free throws by Kueber. But North Dakota responded with an 11-2 run, and the lead reached 21 late in the game.

The Comets were outrebounded 43-24.

North Dakota, playing its first home game in three weeks, raised its home record to 6-1.
