Norfolk State crushes Morgan State 85-65

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) Jeffrey Short scored 24 points on 9-of-10 shooting to lead Norfolk State to an easy 85-65 victory over Morgan State on Saturday night.

Norfolk State shot 63.3 from the field while also dominating the glass, winning the rebounding battle 41-26. The Spartans were equally impressive on the defensive end, holding Morgan State to 34.4 percent from the field and 8 of 25 from 3-point range.

Rashid Gaston added 20 points and 12 rebounds for Norfolk State (5-4, 1-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference).

The Spartans went on a 13-0 run to end the first half, turning a 29-28 deficit into a 41-29 halftime lead. Norfolk State continued to build its lead, pushing it as high as 22.

Cedric Blossom scored 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Bears (1-7, 0-1).
