Norelia, Johnson lead Florida Gulf Coast over Eckerd 68-57

FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) Marc-Eddy Norelia scored 19 points and grabbed six rebounds, Zach Johnson had 17 points, and Florida Gulf Coast pulled away in the second half to top Eckerd 68-57 on Saturday.

Norelia and Johnson combined to make 14 of 17 field goal attempts and were the only Eagles (8-7) to score in double figures.

Eckerd, a Division II school, got 15 first-half points from Trevor Young and trailed 34-33 at the break. But the Tritons made just 9 of 29 shots in the second half and suffered a 4-for-27 stretch spanning both halves in which they were outscored 31-9.

Young finished with 18 points on 8-of-9 shooting but was only 1 for 1 in the second half in seven minutes played.

Eckerd closed with an 8-0 run in the final 1:17.

The Tritons led by eight with 8:00 to play in the first half.
