No. 8 Duke routs W. Washington in preseason clash

Mason Plumlee and Ryan Kelly both scored 22 points to lead No. 8 Duke to a 105-87 preseason win over Western Washington on Saturday.

Freshman Rasheed Sulaimon netted 18 of his 20 points in the first half for the Blue Devils.

Western Washington, the defending NCAA Division II national champion, was led by Paul Jones, who scored 20 points.

The Blue Devils used runs of 12-3 and 13-0 in the first half to build a 54-39 lead at the break.

Western Washington got within 69-58 with 13:38 left, on a tip-in by Jones, but couldn't trim the deficit anymore the rest of the way.

Duke, which shot 57.6 percent (34 of 59) for the game, led by as many as 21 points and outrebounded Western Washington 41-34.
