Quite a start for Quincy Miller at Baylor.
Miller, a 6-foot-9 freshman power forward, led the 12th-ranked Bears in scoring again, with another 17-point effort in a 92-59 victory over Jackson State on Sunday night.
And just like his college debut two nights earlier, Miller got most of his points after halftime.
Miller scored 15 of his 17 points in the second half, including all three 3-pointers. He had nine points during a 14-3 run to start the second half, and put the Bears up 60-32.
''My coaches told me to be confident from the start and shoot the ball, and that's what I did,'' Miller said. ''In the first half, it wasn't falling as much, but in the second half it did.''
Quincy Acy added 14 points, while Cory Jefferson had 13 points and nine rebounds for the Bears (2-0). Anthony Jones scored 11.
Baylor led the entire game and is now 41-0 against teams from the Southwestern Athletic Conference, including both games this season.
Jefferson just missed his second consecutive double-double off the bench in his return, having redshirted last season after playing as a freshman at Baylor. Jefferson had 10 points and 10 rebounds in the opener.
''The main thing I want to focus on when I come in is rebounds and energy, just to help the team out with that,'' Jefferson said.
Christian Williams had 14 points for Jackson State (0-2), which shot only 30 percent (19 of 63) and trailed by 35 points after halftime when the Tigers made only 7 of 31 shots.
Miller, who had most of his senior season in high school wiped out by a knee injury, had a similar debut for the Bears on Friday night in a 77-57 victory over Texas Southern.
Against Texas Southern, Miller scored 12 of his points in the second half. That included a pair of 3-pointers when Baylor put that game out of reach with 11 points in less than a minute.
Baylor had a definite size advantage over Jackson State, especially after Jamarious Sykes - the Tigers' biggest player at 7-foot-2 and 270 pounds - fouled out after playing just 3 minutes without scoring.
''That's never happened before,'' Jackson State coach Tevester Anderson said of the quick foulout. ''He was physical. He got his money's worth.''
The Bears played the second of five games without suspended sophomore standout Perry Jones, a 6-foot-11 forward who was the Big 12 preseason player of the year.
Jones is halfway through a six-game NCAA suspension for accepting improper benefits before he got to Baylor. He had to sit out Baylor's Big 12 tournament game last March, then the first five games this season.
Jones will be eligible to make his season debut Nov. 29 at home against Prairie View, which will be the Bears' sixth consecutive home game to open the season.
Baylor will play its third game in five days on Tuesday, a rare midweek afternoon game that is part of an ESPN marathon.
Kelsey Howard added 12 points for Jackson State.
Baylor scored 27 points off 19 Jackson State turnovers.
''The big thing you look at is defensively we were very good, especially the second half,'' Baylor coach Scott Drew said.
Jackson State's Jenirro Bush, the SWAC preseason player of the year, had just 9 points on 3-of-15 shooting after scoring 20 in a 99-59 loss at eighth-ranked Florida on Friday.
''He was on Friday and just thought he was going to pick up where he left off on Friday. It doesn't happen that way. He was off today. That's terrible,'' Anderson said. ''He's a much better than that. He's a better player than that.''
