Anatoly Bose had 14 points and nine rebounds and Nicholls State held Lamar to 29 percent shooting in a 50-36 victory Saturday night. The teams made just 11 of 49 shots combined in the first half, which ended in a 14-14 tie. Nicholls State (19-10, 12-4 Southland) improved to 50 percent shooting in the second half to pull away. Kenny Dawkins and Brandon McThay, Lamar's top two scorers, combined for just six points on 2-of-17 shooting. McThay was 0-for-6 from 3-point range and Lamar (15-15, 6-10) was 1-of-12 from beyond the arc. Jay Brown led the Cardinals with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Bose put Nicholls State ahead for good at 32-30 on two free throws with 9:35 remaining. That started a 7-0 run to put the Colonels in control.
