Trevon Lewis scored 21 points, while Chris Talkington and Dantrell Thomas added 17 points apiece for Nicholls State in an 80-70 win over Houston Baptist for the Colonels' first win of the season on Saturday night at the Cajundome.

Houston Baptist led by three points at the break and, after opening the second half with a 3-pointer by Ronald March, by 41-35 early in the second of the Beryl Shipley Classic.

But Nicholls State (1-3) went on a 21-8 run from that juncture, sparked by seven points from Seth McBeath and three 3-pointers by the Colonels, and never trailed again.

The Colonels outscored the Huskies 45-32 in the second half. Nicholls State shot 56.7 percent (17 of 30) in the second half compared to 35.5 percent (11 of 31) for Houston Baptist.

Marcus Davis led the Huskies (1-3) with 17 points and March finished with 10.
