Benson Egemonye scored 19 points to lead Niagara past Marist 80-72 Sunday in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Niagara (24-7, 14-4), which has won 10 of its last 11 games, got 17 points from Rob Garrison. Tyrone Lewis and Belil Benn added 16 and 12 points, respectively. Marist (9-22, 4-14) was led by Ryan Schneider?s 21 points. Javon Parris added 12 points while R.J. Hall scored 11. After Marist used a 12-1 run to take 15-7 lead, Lewis led Niagara?s comeback scoring eight of 11 points, bringing Purple Eagles within 19-18 at 8:08. Niagara closed the half with an 18-5 run for a 36-27 lead. Niagara?s 24 wins are the most since its 1953-54 season. Niagara won 27 games in the 1921-22 campaign.
