Next DePaul coach to get big payday
DePaul is serious about restoring a once-proud program and is prepared to make its next men's basketball coach one of the richest in the Big East.
Athletic director Jean Lenti Ponsetto says whoever gets the job could have a salary that "would definitely be in the top half and it would be comparably close to the very top'' in the conference.
It's a sign that DePaul is ready to make a big push after getting knocked around the past few years.
Ponsetto says DePaul has several candidates who are currently
head coaches in successful programs. No one has interviewed for the
job.
A posting for the open position has been listed on the DePaul
jobs Web site. Among the listed requirements: a bachelor's degree
and a minimum of 10 years coaching experience.
DePaul lost its final 13 games this season to finish at 8-23.
